Nosotros have a double hip roof on a truthful 2 story 101 year erstwhile dwelling with a steep pitch, so the chimney cap is another story and a half up for venting/smoke. Only mode upwards there is going to a lot of scaffolding.
I saw this: Rotary Soot Cleaner at Domicile Depot for $l, and I was wondering if anyone can think of a way to utilize that arrangement'due south replacement head (it'southward only $10) or another inexpensive DIY method of getting all the nasties out from the bottom up?

Simply information technology may not be rigid enough in a small (read equally: cheap) diameter cablevision. Worth a shot though.

Here is my $20, ten infinitesimal flue cleaning DIY:
(3) 10' sections of ane/2" CPVC
(three) one/ii" CPVC glue to male thread fittings
(ii) one/ii" CPVC gum to female thread fittings
(1) Galvanized 1/ii" to 1/4" threaded bushing
(1) Chimney brush (in my case, under $ix and 6" circular wire)
And some CPVC/PVC primer and glue. If you don't accept it, borrow a few dabs
Literally took well-nigh three minutes to put together, and less than 7 minutes to clean about 2 ash buckets of creosote from the flue.
Your results may vary.

Chimney sweep at my place concluding Fall had his brush attached to a plumber's snake, and powered it with a cordless drill. Our flue from the wood stove in basement makes a 120 degree turn upward into the chimney. I tin can't clean the system with conventional rods, also looking to run into if anyone's had success with the plumber's snake method. Would similar to pick one upward, simply want to be sure I don't buy the wrong item.
Any tips appreciated.
