For years, I've been doing this to clean my aureate & diamond jewelry:

This is how my previous jeweler recommended cleaning gold jewelry and diamonds. For the past 22 years, I've used Murphy's Oil Soap, hot water, and a child's toothbrush to clean my yellow gold, white gold, and platinum jewelry with diamonds.

Mix 2-3 drops of Irish potato's Oil Lather with super hot h2o from the faucet in a pocket-sized glass.
Identify gold ring with diamonds inside.
Swish the ring around using a kid's toothbrush (that is simply used for cleaning jewelry).
Put ring on left pointer finger and use the toothbrush's soft bristles to gently remove dirt and debris from tiptop of the diamonds.
Have off band to clean underside of the diamonds, making sure the sink drain is plugged or airtight off.
Rinse thoroughly with hot water from the faucet — with the ring still on left pointer finger (and the drain nonetheless airtight).

With my DIY jewelry cleaning solution, I can purchase the cleaner in bulk and it will last for years! Plus, I don't have to notice space on my bathroom countertop to utilize — and store — another handy groovy gadget.

After I got home with my new diamond rings, two questions came to mind:

          #2 -                      Use a hair dryer to dry diamond rings... really?

So I did some research and found others recommending the same matter: dish soap with ammonia and a hair dryer!

Though, I'll be honest, I as well found some people saying that you lot should never apply ammonia on jewelry — and fifty-fifty some say not to use a pilus dryer.

Since more than one professional said TO practice these things, I've decided to follow the advice of my jeweler (and others) and utilize dish soap with ammonia to make clean my jewelry and a hair dryer to dry my jewelry.

The safest solution is i function ammonia to 6 parts h2o. For the purest conception, use distilled water (or at least bottled water) instead of tap water — unless you lot want hard h2o stains and calcium deposits that are naturally found in tap water to settle onto your diamonds.
